Heh, exactly. I'm glad I'm not the only one to think this way. I am taking a chance on a portable resonance speaker (the kind that turns whatever surface it's set on into a speaker) at the moment though since it could be just that awesome.

And oh, don't bother with their keystone ethernet jacks for anything other than a wall plate. We got a bunch to make a patch panel and about 20% of them fell apart in two weeks. They had better ones, but got rid of them since these cost less and they apparently didn't see the difference.

Good to know. Thanks guys. I generally end up buying locally when I need a cable since shipping a single cable generally costs more than getting what I need when I'm across the river and no tax there either.

I'll check that site out. Coulda used them a while back when I needed a LAN cable from my Gaming rig to my(since sold) 360 so it could use the wireless device in my system. Oh well, it's gone now. That problem solved.

It's actually gotten really sad in my office. I've converted everyone and we almost make a weekly purchase and just split the shipping. Yesturday, one of my co-workers asked me if I submitted the order and once I told him yes, he responded with "Awesome. I don't remember what I ordered, but I'm excited." And he wasn't entirely sarcastic.
We start out with a cable or two and always end up with $70-80 worth of stuff. I literally am not sure how we do it...and we always feel like we got an amazing deal.

EDIT: Two things I'd like some opinions on if doable.
1. Anyone heard of problem creating a channel in a heatsink to allow a temp probe to sit flush? Sort of like this.
2. Do you think that shortening the wires on a temp probe would alter the voltages/readouts?

1)No I've never heard of an issue resulting from that. But a better place to mod would be the top portion where there is no CPU contact. You want both sides to be flat. adding a probe in between both surfaces even if compensated for the way that was done would still not be flat. The TIM is gotta go someplace right? So any leftover gaps will be filled with TIM thicker TIM doesn't give you an optimal result in cooling. but if you use a dremel and slice the heatsink the length of the probe and the thickness of it you should be able to apply a little thermal compound to keep it in place allowing you to get the correct temps within 1/10th of 1% by my mental guesstimation. Keep in mind now that I'm no rocket scientist so my calculation could be off but not by much.

2)Shortening an electrical wire will have no adverse effect on the probe since it's software controlled at the controller. i.e. Mobo or Gauge. Just make sure not to let the wires ground themselves and keep them properly sleeved with heatshrink and you should be fine.

3)If I ever see anyone slice into their water block to implant a probe in that manner I'm gonna slap the hell out of em take their puter and call the feds to have them deported. It looks like a decent idea but then you realize that most WBs' are pretty thin at that spot already.

You're right. I should have just accepted to not cut corners since I'm already doing the most that can be done stylishly with air. I might as well make sure that it works the best it can. Besides, there's a spot that will only need a little dremeling on the top. It won't be exactly centered, but it should be close enough that I can track trends.

The reason that I asked was because the temp probe is most likely a small thermocouple which generates a very tiny voltage between the two metals at the tip when there's a decent temp difference. Since this voltage is so small, I'm curious if the resistance in the wire had to have been calculated in when it was being calibrated. If so, then taking a lot of that out will make the temps read higher.

And who said anything about WB's?

Nobody. Just taking the conversation to it's natural progression. I think ahead like that. Of course there really aren't many of us in this thread. But I would hate to see someone jump in and say "hey that's a neat idea for my EK blocks. But now if somone were to make a "slip" that allowed uninterrupted heat transfer where the probe could be inserted and mashed down with thermal tape on both sides that might work, but it would have to be made of copper sheet about the same consistency as Reynold's Wrap aluminum foil.

Fair enough.

And unfortunately, that would probably still leave some gaps. To do that really well, we'd need a copper based TIM that would harden like a ceramic. I have though about using a ceramic, but you've convinced me too well so I think that I'll still put it on top and just insulate the probe on there.

Eh, some bad news. My folding rig is down and I am not sure why. I think it crashed last night sometime. Trying to see what is wrong with it now. Hopefully I can have it back up and running soon.

EDIT Cancel that. Started right back up. Not sure how long it was down though

I agree to stick with the plan. But you can get Copper Spray Gasket material. The only way to get that to work properly though is to spray the material to the HS apply the probe, and spray a top coat over the probe. The problem is that it's a spray and not a controllable application so it would be messy. Even if you took every precaution to tape off the HS.

When I finish my loop I plan to get two T blox and install a temp probe in each pipe. Incoming and outgoing to give me the exact water temp before and after cooling. I'll just use some thermal tape to apply a probe on one side of the CPU block. It won't be exact for Core temps but it should be a good baseline @ +/- 1-3c overall.

Sorry to hear about your issue de Cossatot. Glad you got it sorted out though.

I plan to update my v7 soon. It's going to stay on the same PW so no worries there. But I'm tired of looking at a dead WU that shows "send" all the time but never goes anywhere. It's been months and it's time for that thing to go.
