But i want to know what timings i could get at lower speeds like 1600Mhz-1800Mhz-2000Mhz.
I tested my OCZ Reapers at 2000MHz. 9-9-9 was the best they could do there so you know they would be close to the GeIL. However, there is no guarantee that the GeIL could do CL6 at 1600MHz - AND I got 5-7-5 @ 1524MHz (will be 1583MHz soon enough). CL5 near 1600MHz beats 2000MHz CL9 any day on AMDs and you don't want to bottleneck things. Your best bet is to run the tightest timings you can as close to 1600MHz as possible. The Reapers are probably cheaper too!

MacG, very nice system. Thanks for carrying us so far :-P

I must ask though... what exactly do you use TWO 5970s (essentially 4 GPUs) for?

Cheers!

Thanks and no problem! Gaming and rendering.

Well the GeIL is 5$ cheaper. I'll just order the ocz tomorrow

Seems like either one would be fine then. If the GeIL is cheaper, I would go with that. You never know what the new AM3+ architecture will be like. It is supposed to still use DDR3 and hopefully they get rid of the current bottleneck.

Meh, i bet the ocz ram could do 2000Mhz at the same timings. Pretty sure the ocz ram uses Elpida Hyper IC's.

Yah, they probably have pretty similar capabilities.

So, when are those bivadv's gonna drop ?

BTW i just tought about something. When i had my 7750 the core temps and socket temps were very close, the diffrence was only 1°C. Right now the diffrence is 5°C. Wouldn't it be better to trust my socket temp then ? (socket is 5°C lower then core) As it was correct with my 7750.

I already got one bigadv done. I seem to be able to submit a new one every 3 days or so with some SMPs in between.

As for your temps, I always trust the socket sensor more than the core - especially with AMD.

Well that would give me plenty of room ... it's sitting at 47°C socket temp right now with my cpu at 3.8Ghz 1.39V. Too bad this board can't give more then 1.55V (1.50V with vdroop). With a tiny bit more voltage (1.52) i should be able to stabilize 4Ghz. 1.50 is just not enough, crashes after 5 min prime95
