$25? Seems kinda expensive...
Doesn't VLC play DVDs on linux? And a bunch of other "free open source" applications?

Looking for the full release notes if anyone has them.
Playing DVDs requires licensed codecs.

Of course, the MPEG people have yet to sue the snot out of any Linux distro for providing packaged codecs without paying royalty. Ubuntu likes to cover ite tail though, and make life difficult for users though.

great, i did not have the no display issue with 10.10 RC

But... it doesn't let me install ATI's 10.9 driver .. I'm probably missing something

this is what I get when I run: sh ./ati-driver-installer-10-9-x86.x86_64.run
Code:
sendblink23@sendblink23-MS-7577:~/Documents/atidriver10.9$ sh ./ati-driver-installer-10-9-x86.x86_64.run
Created directory fglrx-install.jcFkq2
Verifying archive integrity... All good.

I'm unimpressed. There's no significant difference between this and Lucid apart from the newer kernel.

hehe *there really isn't much.... but here are a few of the only big differences that I can notice.. compared to 10.04 LTS

-Orange as *Default selecting color - from default Ubuntu Maverick theme
-The New Installer(installing 10.10) very nice new look(it already gives you the option to enable during install to add mp3's, video codecs, flash & extra stuff when installing - if you have internet connection available... so we dont have to manually install them)
-If you have rhythmbox playing.. go to the *change sound volume on your top menu bar & it will have a cool tiny mini rhythmbox player
-I tested with 3 different video cards installing fresh new: ATI HD4650, Nvidia 9800GTX+ & ATI HD5770 (+ CF) - they all did not get the no display monitor issue after rebooting from installing new 10.10... that was an issue I had with 10.04 previously(but happened only to my ATI cards)

This looks terrible on selected desktop icons IMO. It's ok for everything else, but I think the lighter colour in Lucid was better. Something in the middle would probably be better still.

Yea this is pretty cool. But I wish they didn't remove the option to switch between UTC and localtime hardware clocks (they did this ages ago). It's a pain when you run Windows in a dual boot because Windows is still hamstrung with localtime and running UTC in Linux just means the Windows time is messed up after every boot.

With the delay of Gnome 3 until next year the perfect 10 Ubuntu release is out of anything significant and I can't imagine why I would bother changing from the recently released LTS...

Yeah I don't like the *orange thing - eitherway its not like we ever stay with the default look

I've noticed too the clock issue - maybe we should spam reporting to fix it

It would be much better if Microsoft fixed Windows and made it use UTC instead.
