My computer freezes after 10 mins on games

Thread Starter
hi

This is the second problem that I have had with this pc in the past 2 weeks, I manged to solve the first but now this has shown up. My computer freezes after 8 - 10 mins of playing on games, it does it on Battlefield 2 - totally freezes but then works for a couple of seconds then freezes. On Farcry my game character can't move but rest of game carries on and it's always after about 8-10mins too. I'm going to try the rest of my games to see if I get the problem with them.
I have tried a few things to solve it:
New 600w power supply
Replacment ram 1gb
Replacment cpu
Aimed big fan inside case to cool it down
Turned off all unnecessary components
Reinstalled windows

Any help would be great and so much appreciated.

Thanks

Make sure that all your Drivers are up to date Especially Chipset and graphic cards drivers. Sounds like a software issue more than a hardware Issue also Make your paging file bigger or smaller to see if that makes any difference.

Since you have 1gb of ram you should set you paging file to 1536 in both boxes

Hi

Thank you for your fast replies.

I think I have the latest drivers, I went on the ATI site and downloaded everything I could for my card so I guess I have the latest. My paging file was already 1536 so thats OK too. I thought I would try another game, Rainbow 6 Lockdown and it worked fine!

Any further ideas would be really appreciated.

Thanks

Have you tried overclocking it at all? Ran any stability tests?

Hi
Haven’t oc'd yet will when all is working. I haven’t run any stability tests I thought that because some games run and some don’t it would be a software thing what tests do you recommend.

Thanks

Use Driver Cleaner Pro.

http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/U...essional.shtml

In these steps:
1) Download the latest Radeon Drivers and the latest Chipset drivers (DO NOT INSTALL YET)

2) Go to Control Panel, Add/Remove programs and delete everything ATI related. Then remove your ASUS chipset drivers here too

3) Reboot

4) Run Driver Cleaner Pro a few times in the ATI section, and ASUS section.

5) Reboot

6) Install the latest Radeon Drivers and Chipset drivers that you already downloaded.

7) Reboot

If you can't remember these 7 steps, I suggest you write them down.

Hope this helps

You could try memtest-86 for ram testing

http://www.memtest86.com/

Prime95 for cpu test.
