Some kid tried to pull somethin' real shady today... I was about to make a straight hat for hat trade but then the dude quickly changes the hat to a flare gun I think it was. Right when I was about to hit the accept button, lol...

The trade system is smarter than they are. When the trade is changed, you have to re-check that it's ok before beginning the trade.

Oh good. I've met a few suspicious people, changing their thing every few seconds, and I don't wanna get gyped, so it's nice to know the system won't let me.

Also, if you look at tf2items.com/trading and go to your matches, you'll also see 'how many other items people are accepting'. This stops you from wasting your time on the twats who say they'll take anything, then waste your time by attempting to haggle you.

Say f'r'instance I wanted to trade my Safe'n'Sound for the new Pyro Polycount Hat. (I want the hat, yes, but ATM I have nothing I'm willing to let go of... best avoid me). When I check my matches, there's thiss little line of text under the player name:

As you can see, these 5 matches are not actually interested in giving my their Attendant for my Safe'n'Sound. They just want me to make offers.

I'm not here to make offers. I'm here to trade.

No longer use that site to trade for any hats. I once had 3 hats posted listing all three for trade for the softcap. The same 4 people showed up for all 3 hats. What these people do is put their items up and just clicked the "Select All" and ignore everyone who tries to get in contact with them to trade like they're surprised that everyone who see the hat up for trade wants to -_-. They act like you're trying to cheat them out of an item by offering them what they should want/ accept. Even had one person admit it after turning me down for a trade saying they "just want to see what people offer them". That site needs to separate trades by specific items, if you have the 3 specific hats they want it shows, if you have 3 listed and they want 2 or 1 it shows but lets you know, if not then they show nothing to avoid these idiots.

Edit: Just checked the site and they have a Request System up. Might go back to using it depending on how it works out.

Edit 2: Just saw it tells you how many other items they're looking for that item, will make spotting the idiots a lot easier.

Yeah, I'm glad they added that little line of text under players names now. I'd hate looking for a hat, thinking I found someone who wants to trade, then talking to them only to find out they want like four hats for their one hat, or that they just didnt want to trade period.
