Overall and to be Future proof the X1600XT will come way over top of the 6600, and no im not being a Fanboy becasue i have one im just giving the facts. The X1600XT overall is a faster card and has a larger bandwidth and feature SM3.

not its not bull, whilst the x1600's may have 12 fractal pipelines it has 4 complete piplines as a pipeline is made of raster ops and fractal pipelines as well as other components. so seeing the x1600 has 4 raster ops, thus giving 4 complete pipelines.

No not as bad at all they are stong cards for the price.
the 6600 also has 4 raster ops so it to is technically a 4 pipeline card.
Edit:cheers ENT1701

Again this endless discution about pipelines in that article it says also
Quote:
The X1600XT has 12 pixel Shader processors, 4 texture units, 4 ROPs
The x1300 has 4 pipes, not the x1600. We could say that the x1600 has 4 pipes, but a different kind, the pipeline of a x1600 is not comparable with the one of the x1300, 6600GT or 7800GTX.
The only cards with the same pipeline structure are the X1900XT and XTX, and the upcoming x1900GT.

Back to the topic, the 7600GT is obviously the best choice charger, but @ a lower price point the x1600XT is better than the 6600GT. I would go with the 7600GT (actualy I'm waiting for mine as we speak )

It cant be comparable because the X1600XT has 12 pipe pushers as such and 4 full on pipelines so yeah you cant really compare it to other cards in the Pipeline aspect.
