X850 overclocking

Thread Starter
anyone know of a guide or something to overclocking a X850 or mabye a Vmod to get higher speeds? i try catalyst and ati tool and if i go to like mabye 600/580 i start getting (i dont know the word) messed up games where the screen will kind of flicker and whatever. According to catalyst the speeds can get higher than that but i get problems before the maximums (624/600 or something). anyone know?

and its just now i notice the thread below me addressing the problem...oops

600x580 is a pretty good overclock. I cant get over 560 core on my x850XT. I managed to get about 625 memory however.

I have had some better luck than you, Started out not being able to get over your stated 600X580, Then I added a very good 550 watt PSU, Now I get 620X605 Stable with 128 meg system vid memory.

Plays BF2 AWESOME with all on high except dynamic shadows and dynamic lighting...... AA set to 2x...

I am trying to get it higher, however I was able to keep the temp down to no more than 68 deg....

Not bad for a stock cooler on a 2.8 P4 with 1.25 gig ram 400 mhz....

Hello

As i mentioned in another thread about X850XT overclocking it is very difficult, if not impossible to increase the frequencies of your core and memory than you already have.

This is due to not enough juice going throught the core/memory

If you look at my sig i also have one myself. There is a link to a soft/hard mod page in my sig if thats something you are interested in doing

Hope that helps

I would suggest that you up the memory as high as you can at stock core then up the core as high as you can get and still keep it stable. The memory clocks add more when overclocked than the extra core. I can get mine to 550 core and 612 mem. I could probably get the core higher but I know that it is rock solid at those settings.
