Indeed, however it depends on the board as well. I have worked on more than a few i865PERL boards and everyone was slow, hardware notwithstanding.

I have worked on i875 that was a fast boot on IDE but slow on SATA, so I agree with you that hardware can change the boot time.

Well i Use to have the I875P chipset and that use to be a really fast Boot..Has to be said i love Intel chipsets.

This is not about Intel chipsets. This is about Intel boards. The BIOS is the focus of the bootstrap, not the chipset. The Intel BIOS bootstap logs events and this logging is not included in Phoenix/AMI/Award BIOS's. IBM BIOS's also had this issue as well as the slow bootstrap from SATA issue. You will find more people complaining of Intel slow boot than ASUS slow boot. So if you were to create a comparitive analysis of Intel vs ASUS and slow boot issues, you would have an answer. You will find that Intel has more issues, (hardware issues, that create a slow boot event) than other mainboards, say ASUS.

I don't wish to inundate the page with the volumous complaints. Suffice it to say that there are many people with slow boot issues and Intel BIOS's.
