You might want to click the FAQ link at the bottom of my Sig--I have many years of experience working acrylic and have written a few FAQs regarding it's uses in modding PCs...rather than rewrite the book (literally) I will try to point you in the right direction.

There are several ways to install plexi on the PC case. You can surface mount it to the exterior with fasteners or adhesive or even a framework of aluminum channel. You can apply it to the interior with doublestick foam tape or silicon or other appropriate adhesives. You can use a window-mod channel (a plastic H strip that slots over the plexi and slots over the cut out.

The how-to part of this is in my FAQs.

You can bu plexi at Home Depot or Lowes or at a PLastics Shop (look in the Yellow Pages for a local supplier) or sometimes at a sign shop.

You can cut plexi with a tablesaw or skillsaw using a special blade--with a bandsaw or jigsaw using a special blade--with a router--with a laser. PLastics shops often have laser etching and cutting as a service.

If applying the window to the outside you can either eliminate the sidepanel all together and screw the plexi right to the bare case opening--so cut it to to the dimensions of the old side panel; or you can cover a cut-out window in the existing side panel--in which case you had best make the cut really perfect and dress down the edges or polish them or else it will look hideous. You will want to size the window in such a way that it accents your cut-out or cutouts--for instance--a cutout like a flame covered with a slightly large piece of plexi cut to that flame profile (in blue? lol) and lit from the interior with (blue?) LEDs or CCL tubes. There are a variety of clear adhesives that is applied properly would look okay for such a surface mounted window.

The easiest way however is to make a nice cut out in the side panel and then apply the plexi fromt he interior with double-sided foam tape. You don't have to worry about a perfect cut in the plexi--just make it about an inch larger than the cut out. The cut out in the side panel should be neat and have no rough edges.

The window channel method requires getting the H channel plastic molding (from online vendors) and making a cutout just a little larger than the window to accomodate the width of the H channel.

Hope that helps (Check the FAQs--lots of good advice)

Hi TrueNoob,

Try this link: http://www.performance-pcs.com/catal...aea8db21a069a1

The page has what you're looking for towards the bottom. I just bought some of this rubber channel in February...
I used the C-molding Large and it worked fine for me. I also bought some of the Lian Li stuff (because I own one), but I see it's now sold out..

I hope this helped, :-)

Once again I will direct you to the link in my sig to a detailed FAQ that explains it...if you are not interested in reading the FAQs then I am not interested in re-writing them specifically for you...

Lay the window onto the outside of the panel and position it where desired. Use a 5/16” flat washer to trace around the window with a fine point marker using the center of the washer to guide the marker tip like an axle as you wheel around the perimeter of the acrylic. You should now have drawn out an opening about ¼” wider than the acrylic.

Cut out the opening. What makes this part easier than the others is that the U-channel will hide the cut out and the window so neither have to be dressed to perfection. Feed the U-channel onto the cut out until it goes all the way around and trim it to fit just right. The channel will hold itself in place. Using a little dish soap can help the window into the U-channel. Try using the handle of a spoon or a dull butter knife to spread the channel open and over the acrylic.
How's that workin fer ya

Hi TrueNoob,

There are two ways. One way is using the rubber that locks into place and holds the plexiglas. You cut out a hole a little larger than the plexiglas you're installing, place the rubber around the cut out and then work the plexiglas into the rubber channel. Once completed, some of these type channels have a locking strip to press in and you're done.

The other way is to determine the size of a window you want and then cut out the side panel about 1/2" smaller than your window all the way around. After making the cut, you place the "u" channel rubber along the edge of the cut to cover up any sharp edges or color differences. Then you can use good 3m double sided foam tape, or place metal channel type holders on the cut out piece and screw or pop rivet the metal channel in. My Lian Li case that came with a window used this last method of a metal (alum) channel.

I personally use the 5/16" rubber channel and double sided foam tape. It holds well and is somewhat forgiving of you make a mistake.

I hope this helped, :-)
