What are you having trouble with, specifically? Syntax or overall functionality?

Java's user-input is a bit confusing if you're not already familiar with the idea.

One way is to use a JOptionPane:

You could alternatively create your own GUI using one of the many extensible classes provided.

Further, in your main, the arguments (String[] arg) can be used as input, in the sense that you can call a class in java using the command window and provide input:
java myclass lalalalal
