Btw, ionizing air produces O3 (as opposed to 02 +nitrogen you breath), its the "clean" smell those things give off. O3 is actually harmful to you, it kills bacteria and collects dirt yes, but it can also strip the lining of your throat much in the way chlorine does.

You probably never will generate enough to be a problem, but food for thought:

Ionic Breezes were taken off the market because they generated too many ppm of O3 (ozone) and actually made people sick when closed in a room with them.

Not to mention that statically charged air may transfer to your case plastic if not grounded and next time you go to work on your system... Zap.....

Good idea, but be careful.

it wouldn't be too much trouble to pull air out of a computer with an ion wind generator, thus keeping high voltages outside the case and away from sensitive electronics. But, I would still be concerned with ozone.
