Is my 3dmark05 score too low?

Thread Starter
I'm only getting 2500 points with my Sapphire 9800 pro! I've been checking around a little, and this seems like a pretty low score for stock. Any idea of what could be wrong? I'm afraid the rest of my computer might be bottlenecking the card...
It would suck to have to OC the card just to get the same quality others get from stock.

That score seems about right, maybe a little low imo.

When I had a 2.0GHz P4 with a 9700pro i would get around 2500-2700 points on 3DMark05 if i remember rightly

Hope that helps

That seams a little low but not bad either. Is you Processor a Celeron D or just a basic Celeron?

That celly doesn't help much while gaming and evan if the futuremark felows say that the CPU doesn't influence much this benchmark it can be the cause of the drop of 300 - 400 points. L2 cache is vary important in games and the cellys have 1/4 of the pentium's cache.

Celeron D CPU's are actually pretty good, they have 256K L2 Cache which is twice as much as the Celeron Northwood. Celeron D CPU's also a 533FSB compared to 400FSB that the Celeron Northwood has. Bottom line, if you have a Celeron D proc then you will have very little bottlenecking, if you have a Celeron Northwood then you have nice sized bottleneck on your hands. If you have a Celeron Northwood then all is not lost, it just depends on what games you play. If you are willing to spend a little Money on a Celeron D you could you could see an extra 15-20 fps in many of your games.

Let's not forget the celeron D has a 31 stage pipeline also as all the prescotts, so the double L2 cache and the 533 fsb is not that much of a increase over the northwoods, but it's true that they're better than the northwood cellys in the gaming area.

Yeah, its a Celeron D. Glad to hear the score is ok, I'm hoping to get it to at least 3100 with a little OCing. Currently I've got to 2897, with a minor voltage mod and OCing.

The Celly's most likely your problem. I only scored about 3000 with my Celeron 2.5 at 2.95 and my 6600GT. Celerons bottleneck the crap out of any decent graphics card.

As does any old, slow chip. I think I've got a bottleneck, I just can't overclock my CPU.
