I was going to Raid 0 the ssds, but i think i'll just OS on SSd, put 2 of the F3s in raid 0 and use the third as a backup

SSD's don't raid very well you lose trim, trim keeps your drive speedy. Basically in the long run your option would be to reformat to gain performance back instead of just using trim.

Edit: also the vertex's didn't have trim anyways..., the vertex 2 does.

i changed the Vertex 2 based on your suggestion

So:

OS + few programs on Vertex 2 120 gig
Samsung F3 x 2 (short stroked raid 0) = programs/games/media
Samsung F3 x 1 = backup

Sounds like a good hierarchy to me.

http://www.superbiiz.com/detail.php?...2MB-Hard-Drive

has the f3's for 10 bucks cheaper, free shipping.

If you care to shop around when shipping's free I personally don't mind.

antec 900 looks awful
COOLER MASTER HAF 932 Black RC-932-KWN3 Black Steel ATX Full Tower Computer Case with Side window

bluray is not the future. i have a LG blu-ray writer. i barely use it except to install dvd games which only a $30 samsung dvd writer will be perfecto. even bill gates says streaming and hard drive media is where it's at.

attached is a pic of my 1tb wd hd short stroked. short stroking is not worth giving up the hard drive space. also, a pic of short stroked sweet spots if you do want to experiment.

Some people say the same thing about the haf, I personally leave personal choices personal.

Same with the blu-ray i assumed it was needed.

Edit: Then again in the price range i would look at the cooler master refurbs.

http://cmstore.coolermaster-usa.com/...cPath=18_37_19

Sometimes they have great deals.

Holay..... HAF X on there for $150..... someone needs to grab that like a bum on a ham sandwich.
(Not really directed to op, buy whatever case you want as long as the airflow is decent)

Personally I would drop the motherboard to this:

Upgrade the Video card to this:

Memory would switch to this:

Might as well upgrade the CPU to this for 15$ more:

Just me, the video card out of the box will be cooler than a stock GTX480. Motherboard really wont add much to performance unless you overclock. Just my opinion.

Well let me retort, he can't space the 480's on the sabertooth as his current case doesn't allow for hangover.

480's side by side isn't fantastic to run.

and the 480 you picked is a three slot, wont have enough room as it would have to hang over two slots more than he has. I suggested possibly having enough room for 1(slots hanging over), but certainly not 2(slots hanging over).

Dominator's really dominator's? look at the cas man LOOK AT THE CAS.

Also the sabertooth doesn't even come with a long sli bridge.

Edit: Cpu i might give you tho, but I doubt it's really gonna matter as the 950 is probably now the lowest binned anyways just more multiplier.

Edit again....

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-331-_-Product

^compare those to what you have, and notice the volts are lower, i think they are probably the same as your's just under clocked and cheaper while still being a 12gb kit, even tho i think you don't need 12gb's i see where you are coming from since you had 8gb before.

Edit once again lol.....

get some media with your burner as a combo if you are ordering this soon.

Nice, nice. Didn't see the sli 480's! Well that changes everything. Warning on the 2 480's. Be prepared for the noise and heat.

That's why i picked out cards with aftermarket coolers, and made sure he had a board where he could space, heat + noise shouldn't be terrible MUCH better than stock for sure.

I would have picked the zotac, but 3 slots is a pain to manage and his case isn't gonna have the room. Unless he bought like asus rampage extreme, but hes already over budget and that particular card is a little more expensive.

Now the sparkles calibre's are a little cheaper,$470 but the purple turns people away and they are sold out. But that would have thrown the price under, then could have added the board to that. But any aftermarket cooler is going to better than stock, and i have heard good things from the MSI.
