The new Intel chips do not have a 31 stage pipeline nor do they execute 6 instructions per clock cycle.

2) The AM2 test motherboards are PROTOTYPES; that means that they're no where near the real performance of what they'll be like when we get them. AND they used DDR666 or whatever it was - not DDR800. Sure the timings are way out there; but give it a couple months of consumer buying and the big memory companys like OCZ, G-Skill and Corsair will ram those timings down. Forgive the pun.

I may seem like a Fan boy - but AMD crap all over Intel. 9 Ops per cycle for AMD against 6 for Intel. Oh, and dont forget intels 31 stage pipeline and AMD's 12.
Where are you getting this? On your number 1 reason, that is NOT confirmed yet by a reliable source

2. prototypes can reflect performance, dont expect a miracle here bud.

And as for memory.. DDR2 is young, yes, but dont expect AM2 to suddenly appear and ram timings hit DDR speeds.

And The conroe does not do 6 ops, and it has a 14 stage pipeline.
