It probably speeds up the tranfer speed between your Southbridge and the Northbridge, and probably reduces stability. I'd leave it on auto.

However, you might want to email your manufacturer. It could be totaly safe.

SB to NB Frequency setting spanning 200 to 300MHz controls the 16-bit HyperTransport connection piping data between the board’s two chipset components.

On some Asus and ASRock motherboards I believe it is the Hyper Transport controller. Setting are 200MHz, 400MHz, 600MHz, 800MHz, and 1000MHz. If you are running a 200MHz HTT (FSB) or less leave it at 1000MHz (x5). For 200 - 250MHz HTT change it to 800MHz (x4). 250 - 333MHz HTT change it to 600MHz (x3). Anything greater then 333MHz change it to 400MHz (x2). Basically you want to get your Hyper Transport up to 1000MHz without going over too much. So if you are running a 275MHz HTT you will want to multiple it by 3x (600MHz) so your HT will be at 825MHz. Clear as mud?

Adjust this to whatever you need to and confirm the "HTL Speed" in CBId (download this) correlates with the adjustment you made.

it's LDT/FSB Frequency Ratio. as euphoricmix explained, you should keep it as close to 1000 as possible. just leave it at auto. i left mine at auto. don't worry about it, it won't harm by setting it auto. and it won't boost your performance by setting it to manual.
unfortunatly you don't have OCZ ram, otherwise you can copy the stable settings from OCZ. but you still might be able to start your OC from those settings and slowly tight up the timing.
