HaHa......Glad to see you having fun with it again Martin!

Hey I like your test chambers there, I'm not going to make it easy on you either, with a isolator and with-out.....Come on you know you want to!

I have to go find your last one and I'll stick both of these up top, good stuff!

Do it with that gasket. That way you can better concentrate on subjective noise ratings based ONLY on the actual sounds the motor and moving air make.

That's the fun in testing for me...always trying something different..never settling on one test standard..

Isolator, you mean the flow straightener or the rad?

The straightener tubes are glued permanently so no go there, but I could play around with rad vs no rad option... I could also make a 140mm fan template and through my one 140mm fan on there for fun..

OK, will do.. some were suggesting trying one test with and without for a quick gasket comparison as well.

Just in time Martin! I was about to buy those Gelids, now I'll see how they really match up vs. a $10 fan.

Either the R4's or the Xigmatek XLF series

http://www.noiseblocker.de/en/BlackSilentPro120.php

Biggest reason these are going to not be as great as Gentle Typhoons is that they max out at 1400 rpm, whereas the GT's go to 1850 and are still incredibly quiet. Its doubtful, but they might win 1400rpm NB vs 1400rpm GT...

The static pressure ratings on their pdfs never made sense to me..

Twelve Hundred mm?

I think the gasket would help stop any air from bleeding out between the radiator and the fan, probably making test results slightly more accurate... but not significantly.
