CPU slow down at 38C?

Thread Starter
i have a problem with my CPU. no matter what i do the temperature never goes back 38C. i have disabled AMD K8 cool n quiet and disable CPU thermal throttling in my BIOS. whenever i max out both cores the temp never goes past 38. i ran 2 prime95 large TTF torture tests for an hour and the temp was still 38C in everest and other programs. and its also OCed to 2.2GHz from 2.0 with 76F room temp and a stock HSF.

also, iv ran dual prime95 on 2.0GHz and 2.4GHz and my temp still doesn't go past 38C. that has to be a problem but i dont kno how to fix it.

does anyone know something thats wrong that may be stopping my CPU at 38C?

thats probably a not a bad sign then.. That means your cpu is running cool which is good, or you have a tempurature threshold that wont let your computer go above 38C which could be holding you back because its not letting it go to its full potential.

lol my computer is always idling at 38c =( youd think with w/c and 24c temps it would be lower.

im almost absoluted positive that i have a temperature threshold or something. cuz on 2.0GHz 2.2GHz and 2.4GHz, after 1 hour dual prime95, 76F room temp my CPU temp didn't go past 38C..only problem is i can't seem to find the temperature threshold anywhere.

and i can feel the CPU slow down during games too. like CSS when i join a 20 on 20 server it would have bout 100+ frames then after 5 min i would have like 40-80 probably cuz something is stopping the core from exceeding a certain temperature.

38C is the temp that both cores at load slow down too, i havn't figured out my single core load temp yet..i'll go find out rite now

Raise the VCORE in small increments until you break the 38C mark. Voltage affects the tempature more than any other aspect. Raising the vcore may have the side effect of an increased overclock ability.

do dfi motherboards come with overclocking software? Becuase some programs that come with mobos have thresholds like easytune5 has a threshold but thats for gigabyte motherboards. If you do have a oc program then check on that and see if you can find a threshold controll.

well the vcore would definitly raise the temperature but vcore is just for ppl that wants to have more stability from higher OC, vcore doesn't take away the threshold, the vcore just creates more heat by itself..
