Pentium Extreme 955 for 500$ auction list error. What do you think about it? - Page 3

You may think im a sucker, but i payed him via paypal via american express. Now, before you say "he is such an idiot" listen to what i told him in the email. If he was a true scammer, he would fall for this. I told him in the email that if this order goes through, i will be placing a very large order for more dell's for a buisness as the buisness is in need of new computers. If this follows through, you can expect an order of about 50-100 maybe even more computers.

Now, if he was a smart scammer (well smart for a scammer) he would say hey, i can make $50,000 instead of $500 if i send him this computer at a redicously low price. If you think about it, that would make a lot of sense. I dont doubt him at all that has sold dell computers on ebay before, and i dont doubt that he doesnt have access to refurbished and bulk ordered computers. Im also goign to send him an email from the President of Compro Technologies (my email is ****@comprotech.com , which is a real buisness. Its a VoIP software development company) saying if this goes though i will place an order for 100 or so more computers. Etc. As of now, i have paypal protection, and if that doesnt work, American Express Chargeback protection. So either way, i am getting my money back if this is a scam.

I am really surprised no one flamed me yet. But heres an update on the whole deal. Hes been keeping in good touch with me for the last 2 days, explained that he he recieved the payment and he was waiting for his bank to deposit the money into his bank account which takes 3 or so days from paypal. I also sent him an email asking him to mark the item as paid on the auction site, and he replied and said "Oh yeah, i forgot to do that. Im sorry. I will do it first thing in the morning when i get to the shop." And he actualy did mark it paid on the auction site If i were a scammer, i would have just taken the money and not replied to any of my emails. But hes acutaly replying, and being friendly. Lets hope this ends up in my favor!

ok, since when does his bank deposit money from paypal into "his bank account"? Buddy, if you actually get the item, let us know. How long has it been since you payed him?

Maybe he's waiting after the money has deposited and cancel paypal and cancel his bank account. I mean if I was a scammer I wouldn't scam for $500 and go with it. But you never know. The listing seems to be not so professional for a person who is a Dell certified dealer. And it doesn't seem like a typo since $450 doesn't seem to be anything close to....$2,200. And since he listed it as a MSRP, the "buy it now price" would not even close to $450. You know what I'm talking about? The digit should either start with a 2 or a 1. I mean if I was clumsy and missed a digit then I can see that but it's the wrong number. I just wish you good luck, because having such good system for $500 is just awsome. You planning to throw an overclock.net party if you got the real thing? Lol. I'll join.

Wishing the best for you man!

However always remember if it sounds too good to be true 99.99% of the time its way too good to be as its proposed. Get him to send pictures with the local newspaper front page and a close up of the serial and model #'s?

I don't get the bank account deal? Why does he need to make you wait when he is dealing with pay pal? Good luck! I would contact pay pal and stop payment period after hearing this one? But what if somehow hes leggit? I can see why your hooked?

That was my thought to. There is no reason to require a buyer to wait until you transfer the money from your Paypal to your bank. Once it's in your paypal account, payment has been made.

BTW, here's $180 worth of free advice. If he does scam you (and there are a TON of red flags), don't waste your time with Paypal trying to get your money back. They drag their feet for 30 days and then tell you they can't help, and then you contact your bank and they tell you you had to file the request for charge back within 30 days. After 30 days they have to do an investigation.

So if he scams you, contact your bank right away.

I hope you get it, I've seen things like this tho, people forgetting a zero on a buy it now and whatnot. I saw a Gibson Les Paul Standard Guitar for 150$ buy it now once... those go for $2000 new.

Hopefully you get it! GOOD LUCK!
