NZXT m59 - Page 3

I just wanna say the M59 is awesome! you cannot get anything for the same price, the features this case has exceeded my expectations for such a cheap(in price) case.Only drawbacks are the ones listed above, but again they are not that bad if your up for a little case modding,if your looking for a good case thats cheap in price look no further as the M59 delivers without a doubt!!!!

Thanks to you guys, I decided to go for it and my nzxt m59 just came in the mail!

One problem I had was when I tried sticking my dvd drive in the stealth bay but it wouldnt go all the way in it would stop midway and get all scratched up which pissed me off so much Dx. Is there something i have to do to get the drive to push all the way in? or is my drive to fat? its a lite-on dvd burner thing and its the light scribe version. A

Either way, awesome case With awesome features!

I've read other people having that problem in the reviews at Newegg. It may sound stupid to ask, but you did detach the front benzel before you tried to insert the drive right? (sorry had to ask) Common sense tells me that 5 1/2" drives are just that, 5 1/2" an industry standard. I can't imagine why it wouldn't fit in but there must be something to this. Have you looked to see what is causing the interference? Is it the width or length that's giving you trouble? I'm curious! My drive simply slide into place without a thought. I might have had to reach inside the case to lift the back side of the drive ever so slightly, but other than that I don't remember having any issues at all. Maybe you could compare this drive, with another drive if you have one laying around.

Yes, I did remove the front bezel and when I tried pushing the drive in it would stop halfway and if I would try and add a little force the drive gets scratched up on the sides, I think it has more to do with the width than the length. I'll take your advice and compare it to another drive I have. I'll try it again just to make sure I didn't do anything stupid, lol its probably just me doing something wrong, Thanks for your response.

No problems with cable management with a HX750 Corsair PSU. Maintains good temps for my setup and looks sharp.
I am getting this case for my build as well, and im happy to see someone who has a 4 ghz stable cpu with this case @ low cpu temps, because thats what i'm looking to do. I'm wondering, at what locations did you decided to put all the case fans? I know this Case can hold a total of 5 max, but im curious where you put yours.

I removed the stock rear exhaust, and replaced it with a Enermax Magma http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835214001. Installed a Enermax UC-12EB http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811999099 in the front. For the top (rear location) I used a Enermax UCTB14 RT.
Still using the stock side cover fan.
Also blocked off all the vents on the rear panel, plus the unused top, front fan location with tape and heavy black construction paper. This config keeps the case nice and cool and the only fan I can hear is the rear Magma (actually just wind noise). My mobo has a fan control utility where if I turn the system to silent mode it reduces fan rpm by about 45% and makes this unit absolutely silent while increasing the mobo temp and cpu temp by only 2c. Normally the mobo runs at 27c (always), and cpu runs at 31-32c normal every day work load, and while stress testing with Prime95 for 24 hrs max's out at 38-39c depending on ambient temps. This was only possible after installing the Scythe Mugen II with P/P using 2 Gentle Typhoon AP-15's.
The GT AP-15's are unbeatable, and I'm now thinking of replacing the front case fan with a GT AP-14 and the rear with another GT AP-15 when the new 1090T Hex core CPU arrives tomorrow. I can't stress enough how powerful and silent these Gentle Typhoon's really are. If you have the cash don't hesitate to use them!

Wow, nice setup! When you said your motherboard reduces the fan noise, does it pwm all the fans, or the rear exhaust fan only? Because the specs on the other fans are so quiet, that I don't think anybody would ever heard them at full speed lol

It actually has two sections, 1st is the cpu fan/fans, and 2nd all the case fans. The CHIV Formula has 7 fan headers, and much more. It's truly an amazing mobo and worth the price IMHO. OC's nicer and can do it with less voltage too. I stumbled onto a sale price at Newegg and got it delivered for $188.00.

The rear Magma is the only one you'd hear when under full power and it really isn't bad at all. Just surprising how silent it all gets when using the AI Suite Fan Controller. I wouldn't reduce fans on a hot summer day with no AC myself but as long as it's only under normal work load there's no reason you couldn't, I'm sure temps would stay well within reason.

Dang, is it Thursday yet? 1090T is on schedule for delivery lol.

One thing about the front fan I noticed on the NZXT M59, is that behind the fan mounts is what appears to me to be a restrictive hard drive cage. One thing I know is that putting a restriction in front of a highflow fan will cause a loud hair drier effect (if you know what I mean). I was wondering if when your fans are running at full speed, if you can hear the front fan at all?

In all honesty it is only a 44 cfm fan to assist in keeping the HDD's cool plus aid in whatever way it can by blowing through the holes (yes, it is vented). But to answer your question, no I can NOT hear a thing from the front fan. In fact I just ordered a 70cfm T Silence 120mm to give that a try if I need more air flow. Only reason I'd consider going for more air is I just installed a Phenom II 1090T Hexcore and wasn't sure till just now, (as I'm taking a break from OC'ing that lol, just put it in earlier today), if I'd even need it or not. So far, things are holding fairly well temp wise with this 6 core ready to run the same settings listed in my rig at this time. I'm hoping to duplicate the 4043 setup from my 555 x2 before the night is over, and only 5MHz away on the Ref Clock right now. So far I just ran an hour of Prime95 with a max temp (just a spike) up to 55c WOO HOO. I have a hunch it'll just make it, but may need a little more air flow through the case for the summer time heat. The new 70cfm Enermax won't be here till Monday dang it, other wise I would have put it right now. But, that's only because of the 6 core. If I would have known the, what I know now, I would have ordered another Gentle Typhoon for the front, but being the Enermax will be here Monday I'll be trying that first.
