CRT or TFT?

Thread Starter
After 5 years or so having a 21" sun crt i think it is starting to play up, im getting very faint ghosting of colours on the screen so am thinking of my next monitor purchase. I run everything in a resolution of 1600x1200, thats why i like a big monitor. I play a lot of games and am just wondering if I should get another crt or go for a tft.....which is better?? I was looking at something like this...

at 12ms, you may experience some 'ghosting'. I dont use a TFT my self, I prefer CRT's, so I've never experienced ghosting. For gaming, it's recommended that you have 8ms or less but it depends on the screen. The dell TFT's have a response time of 12 or 16ms but theyre usually faster. The contrast ratio on that TFT is pretty good too.

Yeah, you want at least 8ms for gaming.
Some CRT's have a little bit of color ghosting, but that is usually at higher resoloutions. You should try lowering the resoloution of that really bothers you.
I'm thinking about switching over to TFT also. Another thing to look for in a TFT is DVI. DO NOT buy a TFT monitor without a DVI input.

My VX922 is generally accepted to be the fastest LCD with the least ghosting at 2MS Gray to Gray AND 2MS Black-White-Black! Its as close to a CRT as you can get but its only 19in and 1280x1024.
