6600gt underperforming? - Page 4

Thread Starter
Well, I received my new PSU 500w, Megacool HSF, and 3 case fans today ..

.. It didn't solve it.

Though I did read many many many threads on random forums about 6600gt problems with Intel Celerons. Apparently it's like trying to drive a car (6600gt) without tires. They apparently just do not go together. I guess those posters who did state the CPU as the bottleneck, cheers to you.

My options now are, return everything I bought and get my near 400$ back.

Buy a P4 3.2/3.4Ghz Socket 478 processor, and hope that fixes my problems. And also with this option I will be stuck with this setup for the rest of my schooling years.

.. Ughhh I'm hopeless.

Get a new mobo, too. You can get a cheap ASUS P4p800 at newegg with good overclock-ability, then you don't have to pay much for the CPU (3.2Ghz is like $250, while 3.0 is like $200)
