Asus Xonar D2X low sound...

Thread Starter
Hi all, I think I'm having a problem with my D2X since the sound is extremely low. I have to turn everything on max (speakers, sound bar, Xonar software) just to barely hear it. I'm currently using the newest driver downloaded from Asus website and everything seems all right.

Please help me fixing this and thanks all in advance, will + Rep for all suggestions.

Did you plug in the floppy power connector into the power connector on the card? The xonar is a powered card, not plugging it in would describe what you're experiencing.

I did plug it in with the floppy connector. The card shows orange led inside the case and a variety of colors outside so I suppose it's fully powered.

Might wanna check to see if its fully connected, the power connector.

Also, you could try reinstalling drivers.

If your psu has more than one, try another floppy connector. My card for some reason refused to work with one of the connectors.

Might sound stupid but obviously go through the normal of checking the outputs of your card and make sure your not plugged into the surround or rear outputs.
Since your in Windows 7, try going to the sound section under the control panel and check the output level. Go under properties and see if the levels are normal. Check the sampling rate too. If your at 192Khz, try going down to 44Khz and 96Khz.
Test other outputs too. If you recently installed new software like a DVD codec, it could be affecting your output.
Make sure your not running it through a DTS Pass-through or a digital output filtering option.

Most of the time it is due to the power connector not being full seated. As when you remove it the plastic clip tends to almost pull off. As i always have to reseat mine after a disconnect.

Do you have the sound cut up in the sound properties, etc?

Oh, I manually set the rate to 192Khz when it was default at 44 or 96khz. I might change everything back to default then.

I'll also check the floppy connector to see if it's plugged in neatly.

Try placing it in another slot on your mobo, it may not be receiving ample power through the slot it's in or it is poorly seated. Also, have you tried different speakers/headphones?

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. Try reseating the card.

Also, you could try reinstalling the drivers but, doing it before the card was installed. I know this sounds odd but sometimes if a cable is plugged in or it senses the presence of a pre-exisiting audio device the driver will not install properly.
