Please help this newbie get his mobo working

Im completely frustrated, I got a new socket 370 mobo, but I cant get it running.. I thought I could just put it togather and transfer my exesiting hard drive to the new one. nope I have home xp and the the thing keeps reseting, so I tried formatting another hard drive and it keeps giving me disk read error could someone help me please

If you could fill in your system specs, that would help (ass system specs in profile)...

Now, if you changed MBs, there is a better chance than not that WinXP will blow up trying to boot. It has drivers, etc for your old MB, not the new one (low level stuff - not video cards...)

So now you formatted.. You boot to the WinXP Home CD.. and you are able to select the drive you want to install on? Format it with NTFS (quick)? And some point later gives an error?

You change boot order in BIOS to CD? (You even put your CD in?)

What MB is it?

TDK PRM27I eo yes I've done all that I used my OS cd for the new mobo and I get insert operating disk and hit enter every time I do that it just repeats the same message.

well out of the blue it started working!!! I did do exactly what you first posted and it didn't work!!! Also sometimes the screen won't display but when I hit the eject button on the cd rom the picture comes right on??? whats up with that a jumper set to wrong voltage?? freaking computers
