Wait, and we will see.
All the hype? A SuperPi time and gaming benchmarks arn't hype, they are fact. And the facts are, the Conroe completely controls the performance level. It is not that AMD is sitting on their butts, it is that they really don't have anything that can match it, yet.

Right Paul, and let's not forget that the set-up VW used at XS was on a buggy Intel well known for non-overclocking motherboard.

It'd be fun when the real deal ASUS comes out with the one that supports Conroe.

Also 2007 will bring Quad-Core (Conroes) CPUs on a 45nm tech along with DDR3. I think it's safe to say that the 5 years of Netburst are gone and no longer it has to compete with a 2001 technology.

That 3.33Ghz Conroe XE overclock to ohhh about 3.8Ghz would completely dominate anything. You are talking about a low 10's second super pi 1M time!

Will be nice to see those quad core conroes. Wish intel would create their own version of a on-die memory controller for those chips. IMO when conroe comes out, it will be a ghz war again, and AMD stock has only maxed out at what? 3ghz?. Intel could possibly have 4ghz stock conroes out by the time AMD hits 3.4ghz stock IMO.

Time for AMD to go back to the doghouse.

i dont want a new computer lol, ive spent enough on this damn thing, might as well just only upgrade the vid card for dx10, im really not all that impressed with DDR2...maybe when amd comes out with a 60nm chip i might get sumfin new .

Unfortunately, AMD has become complacent. THey need o get working on that 65nm arcitechture so that they can actually compete here. I give AMD 6 months after conroe's release though uintil theyannounce some mind blowing technology. I seriously doubt AMD will sit by and let this happen. They are gonna actually have to do somehting for the firt time in 6 years.

Intel and on-die memory controllers don't work. It is a bad idea, because the transition to a new memory interface has to go with a new chip and motherboard. With intel's current chips, they can use DDR / DDR2 / DDR3 on the same chips.

I think Intel outta shut the F*** UP for now on regarding their new technologies. Everytime they kiss stockholder ass announcing their plans for the next 2 years they give AMD knowledge of what they need to be beating in 2 years. Gives them time to come up with something. Announce it within 3-6 months and AMD wont have time to come up with a counter-attack. Intel needs to adopt a policy of "hush hush" similar to AMD.

Come on Intel, we know your not afraid to play dirty. Finish them off already.
