ver heard of diminished reality? It's much like the augmented sort, except instead of using computers to add information to one's field of vision, DR is about taking things out...The framework's presently running on Windows, but the team tells us it has plans to port it to Android soon, and it will likely be free for non-commercial use.

Looks exactly like what Photoshop CS5 does, except in real time with a moving image and changing perspectives.

The part of this that is awesome IMO isn't that it makes something "invisible", it is that it can recognize an object and separate it from its surroundings. I'm guessing it is much more limited than they're showing. I doubt you could highlight a person in a crowd of moving people, and have it continue to recognize and make just the person invisible as they weave in and out of the crowd.

Will the result be as smooth against a more complex background? Each example shows an object against a general solid color background. Also, could you say remove a whole person from a video if they're against a solid white wall?

I was hoping they would turn the water on in the sink scene with the invisible sink hole
