Thread Starter
Hi, My temperature idle is 50 does anyone know what the max i can get my temp to and the card to be safe and stable.
Also what does it mean to unlock a graphics card and can it be done to mine.

Finally what software should i use to overclock it, rivatuner does not support my card, will raising the pci.e mhz in my bios overclock it?
Is there anything i should defantly not do what what damage my new lovely card. Thanks in advance.

Get somthing called coolbits. It's a registry hack that allows you to overclock by the nvidia display menu.

Hey,

Danger temps for a graphics card are usually about 90 - be sure to keep it below 70 - for saftey. Unlocking a graphics card means your are either flashing it with the BIOS (basic input output system) of a higher model; thus unlocking extra pipes etc OR you are physically modifying the card to gain those extra pipes - usually this is because the connections for the other pipes have been severed during manufactor. Sorry; but the 7600GT cant be unlocked. You can only overclock the core and memory.

ya coobits is 100% safe. It's a program that nvidia made...they just hid it.

Also, do not raise the PCI-E frequency in the BIOS...that could hurt your card.

Yes Coolbits is safe to use (as long as you don't go overboard with the OC). It basically unlocks, or rather, 'un-hides' options that nVidia doesn't think the 'average consumer' should mess with. Its a good thing we aren't average!

Double click on the registry key. It will put it in your registry. Then go into your display settings, and click on the Advanced button. One of the tabs in the new window should say 7600GT ____ (sry I'm at work so I can't look at my setup). The overclock setings will be in there. Poke around a bit, or some1 else can probably help you with better instructions. lol I am lame.

EDIT: BIOS can actually mean both I guess. I've always been told Basic Input/Output System, though.
