Batman Arkham Asylum stuttering. PLEASE help.

Hey guys,

I'm having a bit of a problem here.

I just installed Arkham Asylum and for some reason I am getting weird fps drops..

It stays at 62 and then a lot of times it drops down to like 50 in certain areas It's VERY annoying.

I play with Physx set to normal, 1680x1050 and everything else max. (AA 4x)

I have defragged my drive and everything...

I am using the beta 260 drivers.

Any idea why this is happening??

Thanks!

Are you using Afterburner or EVGA Precision while playing it?

I would suggest using Afterburner to set your clocks/profile, then close it out completely and try playing again. That may remove the stuttering.

From your post is just sounds like the fps are just dropping. That's normal. V-sync on or off?

Now if you're talking about the game stopping/going, then yes that is studdering.

Also, V Sync is off but the fps is capped at 62 even when I edit the ini file...

I really don't think it's normal because other Unreal Engine games like ME2 play flawlessly without any drops in fps stays at 62 at all times..

No, I'm telling you to close out the Afterburner program once you set your overclock. You shouldn't lose your overclock if you close the program. Once the clocks are set - they're set - until you change the profile again in Afterburner.

Before - with drivers and other earlier versions of GFX monitors (Afterburner/Precision) - there were polling problems that cause stuttering and other issues. This is why I'm suggesting you set your clocks in Afterburner, then close it out, then play your game.

the problem isn't with v-sync(although, this might be the cause) I still don't get why people like to keep v-sync off. Do you guys love playing with tearing? Always turn v-sync on whenever applicable. Gameplay will be 60 fps and smooth as ice + no tearing or any weird video freezing assoicated problems.

the problem seems to lie within the graphics card. Yes, the GTX 460SC is a strong card, but i think in order to run PhysX properly, you need powerful processing - thus, needing a second dedicated card to reap its benefits.

Download latest Nvidia drivers, loose the PhysX, and put AA to 16x. And report back to see if there's any changes.

When do the fps drop? I noticed drops at parts where physx was being utilized. Any place that had smoke/fog was one.

I just started playing this awesome game today as well. This game can take a toll on your system. With everything set to max and physx set to medium, i'm getting 58 fps avg. and 42 was the minimum in the benchmark. But I do not get any stuttering, the game play is extremely smooth. I would do what GanjaSMK suggested and close out Afterburner and see if that helps. Although, I have afterburner and I have no issues at all. Maybe it doesn't like the oc on your card? Try reverting back to stock clocks and see if there is any stuttering.
