OCing/vmodding a 7800GS

Ok as we speak im having a 7800GS shipped... Now, Ive seen that people have been able to reach 485/1700 with there 7800GS with normal voltage and normal cooling. How are they doing this..this is simply amazing to me..that the 7800GS comes 375/1200 standard and these people have push it this much. What softwares are out there that let you do this/are the best for OCing?

Im also looking for some monitoring software for sys temp and things like that.

And if anyone can really help me bust a move..Are there any fairly easy vmods that I can use on the 7800GS? Accounting with my system and power supply.

haha. I love that I totally got everyone to try and vmod their cards.

I would use Coolbits 2.0 to overclock, and ATITool to check for artifacts.

Other than that, just google 7800GS vmods...and it'll show you how to do it.

I have done this and I found some good Information with VRs and pecil mods..Im just not sure if those will apply with the sys that I have or the model of 7800 I get.

And yes your the one that drove me crazy with getting the clocks that high...When anyone is using their card theres always that message in the back of your mind that you can push it better than this. Leads people to never be satisfied.

Hey man, I'm glad to be pushing people over the edge. There's nothing like the blazing speeds you can pull after a small vmod on your GPU. We all do it to our CPUs...so why not?

All the 7800GSs should be the same. It's a reference design. That means that any vmod you find SHOULD work. When you figure out which brand you're getting...then you should search more specifically for that brand if you can...

I would be very carefull with oc'ing the 7800gs.
I got one yesterday, it was supposed to be the superclock variety @460 and 1350. Out of the box it was 375 1200, Well it is being RMA'd on Tuesday after a chat with the EVGA tech support. The problem I have is that whenever i OC it to anything above 430 and 1250 it will lock up during gameplay.
I have tried driver versions 81.98, 84.20, 84.21 ngo 81.25's, i have OC'd it using coolbits and ati tool and it still locks up. The temps are always lower than my old 6800gt.
The EVGA forums seem to be full of people who cannot run the card at its "stock" 460 1350 ratings. I personally think EVGA have gone too far with it just so they can say they have the fastest 7800gs?
The problem is worse with Toca RD3 at 1600x900 and full detail than BF2 at 1600X1200 at full detail (everything at 2xAA and 4xAF)

No, I got the 7800gs co sc.
Allthough with the crashing issues (theres 17 pages of complaints on the EVGA forums) that one is the better choice.
