Minecraft is slow???

Decided to get minecraft, and play it offline/on my desktop..... But it runs slow sometimes, and the sound is choppy and glitchy?
What may be the cause of this?

Playing on my sig rig....all drivers are updated.

It very well could be that your integrated chip has poor OpenGL performance. It's pretty old.

It may look like crap, but it also runs like crap. It's just the game.

The game is still in alpha... So there are still a lot of bugs to work out.

it most certainly does not run like crap, its just that it takes a LOT more power then you realize, my sigrig can play it with no issue, but my card and cpu get just as hot as any other good looking game ie: crysis,metro,BC2.

Pretty sure it plays just fine on my P4 2.8GHz with an intergrated video card. But whatever

It's just that it's made in Java.

My sister's rig will slow down with a lot of torches and she has an 8600GT and an overclocked E2140. Yet, she can max out TF2 at 30+ FPS. >_>

just saying, it does take a lot of cpu/gpu power to run it, just because it looks like trash doesnt mean weak computers should be able to run it well. personally i have only seen minecraft slow down once or twice, and it was because i was doing other stuff in the background that was also cpu heavy (data backup and uncompressing files).

Yeah, I really wish he coded it in C++ or something, Java doesn't work well in particular situations like this IMO.

i agree, but i think people should realize that just because it doesnt look like crysis, doesnt mean their computer should be capable of running it as if it was a simple java game, its a bit more complex than that.
