Many of us thought agp was dead after the 6800 but then nvidia surprised us with the 7800gs .... is this the last of the AGP cards.... does anybody have any news on that?

I don't think any new high performance agp cards will come out. I can however see a few midrange and low end cards still being made.

From Anandtech (ok, 2 months old)
http://www.anandtech.com/printarticle.aspx?i=2686

Quote: "It is unknown whether further updates to the AGP lineup will present themselves, but NVIDIA has said that they will be able to adapt to the demands of the market. This part, like all other recent NVIDIA AGP parts, is made possible by use of their HSI (High Speed Interconnect), which is capable of connecting AGP and PCI Express busses together. The G70 part used on the 7800 GS is a native PCI Express part, and NVIDIA aren't planning on fabbing any more native AGP parts."

Thus, if there is demand, there might be another AGP card, as long as it is feasible and profitable to do so. However, I guess that AGP is dying, if not dead already. PCI-E is definately the future.

AGP was like a bagillion years old...of course everyone had one. That's like saying everyone had a monitor.

Pci-e is better. It came about because of a need for high bandwidth graphics solutions. SLI and Quad SLI...all that yummy stuff.

Don't fight technology. Embrace it.

Nope But yea AGPs pretty much dead. Why pay 400 bucks for an AGP X850XT when the same thing in PCIE is 170? The extra money can go elsewhere.
Not bad at all...
