Updating BIOS w/o floppy question

Thread Starter
hey fellas. i'm buildin a new comp. for someone., and i'm gettin this INtel CPU ucore error. i've searched on a couple of sites, and many have had this problem and resolved it by updating the BIOS. i've downloaded the bios file and renamed it as told.... but for some reason my motherboard isnt recognizing my floppy drive.... the green light on my floppy drive jus stays lit up green, so i know something is wrong. .. and thats the only waay to get the bios file from this pc, to the new c i presume. can i do this from a cd r? this really sucks

thank you

Can you give us at least the brand and model of your motherboard?
In some cases, you can use a USB drive, and have the Motherboard it act as a floppy....

ASUS p5ld2-vm. is tehre any other way? i dont have money for a usb floppy drive.

Can your floppy cable fit only one way? One time I had a floppy cable mounted upside down once because it didn't have that little 'notch' on the top that tells you what way to put it in.

edit: WOW 900th post!

You may need to set your bios drives order to run the (3.5 floppy 1st) then your HDD or CD/DVD-Rom which ever you prefer. Be sure and go back to your bios@setup and set the proper drives order you need.

thanks fellas. quick response.

game i have tried to plug each end of the floppy cable in that beeeoth every way possible.. tehre are 3 connectors on this cable, and only 2 of'em can fit.

Oknilp, i have tried setting the floppy drive 1st.. but the drive just stays on green the whole time and windows isnt recognizin it.

If the light on the floppy stays on that means you plugged one or both ends of the cable in backwards.

well your cable has a red stripe on 1 side of it...also on your motherboard and on the drive there will be 1 end of socket labeled pin 1 or have an arrow...the red stripe ALWAYS goes toward the pin 1...plug both sides of cable in like that and it should work...TY
