This set from Corsair may be a good alternative, DDR-550 (PC4400) memory. The heat spreader is larger then normal so you may have to verify that you have room to install. Do you want a set that usually gets around 275-280Mhz or one that is designed to run at 275Mhz?

There are also some DDR-600 or DDR-700 2x512MB kits that are on backorder through zipzoomfly. But if you want a 2x1GB kit the Corsair set would be a great option for clocks around 275MHz.

Im all for the Platinums... I have always reccomended them and heard nothing but great things about them and read a few reviews at which they were one of the top 3 ram kits. I think 275-280mhz is well within reach, and i bet at 3-4-4-8 you can get in the 290's....
