to optimizing your CS:S connection first enable the console by checking the console option in advanced controls then while in a server type the following in the console ("~" for it to drop down):
cl_updaterate
cl_cmdrate
cl_rate

and adjust them according to the server you are on.

edit: conerning weapons you might want to read this http://www.overclock.net/faqs/26186-...ons-guide.html
for

cl_updaterate
cl_cmdrate
cl_rate

what value should you set it for "overall"

*cl_updaterate caps your tickrate so if you leave this at 20 (standard) and go into a 33/66/100 tickrate server, you're only getting 20tick, set this to 100.

*cl_cmdrate is the number of times per second the client informs the server of its actions so set it to your average frame rate.

*cl_rate is the max bytes/sec the host can send data, Default is 10K, set it up according to your download speeds.

have fun.

They were about to ID me when I bought UT2004. I "don't look like someone who'd kill someone" so they let me buy it anyway.
