A Stock processor fan looks a bit like this...click on the picture below...

The part circled in red shows the screw that holds the fan on...there are 4 of them. There are usually arrows showing which way to turn them to make them lock. Make sure all of them are fully pressed down and locked. This will make sure the processor and heatsink with fan are transfering all the heat.

well i learned the hard way by trying it the first time i heard of it whithout really knowing what i was doing, thankfully the people helped me get it back up and running, but now something is up with my fan, that i need to fix.

Sounds good. Now, on some processor fans, the screws have arrows that point to the direction that makes them UNlock. You want them to be locked, so after you turn the screws, lightly pull up on them to make sure they are locked. If they aren't locked, then turn the other way. That'll make sure the fan doesn't fall off when you turn your computer upright, lol
