portable air conditioner?

Thread Starter
i visited my friend's house and saw his massive fanless external radiator that he puts outside of his case and the idea suddenly hit me... he oced his i7 to 4Ghz now and the temp is like well under 70 (he said he'd do more if he has time). seeing the radiator can do a good job just fanless, what improvements can be expected if i put a portable air conditioner(or something that blows good, cool air) next to the radiator and have like a fan blowing on it? or simply extending the water tube and have the radiator by the winter when it's snowing... i forgot the name he told me but he is using something similar to this: http://ncix.com/products/index.php?s...=ZALMAN%20TECH

i mean it's not a super upgrade like freezing your computer but what do you guys think of the improvement?

You should basically gain however much colder the chilled air is compared to the regular ambient air. Depending on how cold it gets though you may have to worry about condensation.

That is a Reserator V2 - It is for a "quiet" cooling solution and not a "Cool a 980x and 2 GTX 480's" kind of solution. You could probably use 2 of these, but since they are fanless, they will not cool as well as a "fanned" rad of the same size. That is not to say that you couldn't just attach fans to it though
