New I7 Build

Thread Starter
Hi

Ive been saving up over the years (since 2005) for my PC upgrade and the time has come to put it all into perspective.Ive decided on these items so far:

Intel I7 950
Gigabyte GTX 460 1GB
Antec TruePower Quattro 850W (also looing at the Corsair HX850W)
Asus Rampage II Gene 1366
Corsair Dominator DDR3 1600 (3x2GB)
Zalman CNPS10X Extreme cooler
x2 Seagate 1TB 7200.12 32MB HDD
Antec 1200 Case

Any other recommendations that might be better for more or less the same price ? Any input would be appreciated.

Awe thanks

I would switch out the hard drives to Samsung F3 1TBs. Also I dont think that the ASUS Rampage II Gene will be good since its a mATX mobo. You might wanna go with an ATX instead. As for the Antec 1200 I think that it doesn't have every good cable management and I would recommend a HAF or HAF X.

Is Micro-ATX a requirement for your new set up?

M-ATX in my opinion is better unless your running SLI or Crossfire or need multiple PCI cards. They have overall better latency than an equivalent ATX board.

Thanks for the input. First the Antec1200 was in my eye for a long time so it will definitely be the case I'm buying For the mobo. I'm not to bothered about mATX or ATX but I will go SLi later on with another 460, the Samsung HDD I'm not to sure about, Ill read up on those F3's thanks.

I apreciate all the input

Awe thanks.

You will be hard pressed to back that statement up..

Micro-ATX by virtue of its size fills a user specific niche.

There is no evidence that micro-ATX boards provide any kind of performance improvements over comparable full sized motherboards.

If your only planning on using 1 460 for now and maybe one in the future, you should go with this PSU.

Not really considering I rebuted another member in a thread awhile back with proof and benches to back it up from multiple sources. Its a basic electrical enigineering principal the electrical signal is traveling a shorter distance, in the ns range a few inches can reduce latency not considerably but still its enough to also increase bandwith.

Heres some just from a quick gander on google.
