Sata Hd Q

hey,

so, my motherboard died. yay. I am running 2x 80gb SATA hard drives. They are not RAIDed, but im not totally familiar with sata tech. and my mobo for some reason reads them as... scci drives... dont know why (shuttle an50R - ya, its crap)

here is my main Q:
I going to replace the mobo with a different model (my old model is discontinued)
this most likely means im gunna have to reformat the OS

i know if they were PATA drives, i could just connect the hard drives to another computer and pull off the data, but because these drives are SATA drives, will the new mobo just wipe all the data cuz its trying to 'create' a new raid?
can i just plug them into another computer and get the data off them, or will the new hardware try to config them and erase the data table on them.

really, i just wanna keep my data

thnx in advance

umm, i didn't know much about computers back when this happened but i placed my old 80GB into my friend's new comp and everything got messed up. the data was still tehre but it wouldn't boot.

i just placed my windows cd in there and did a "repair windows" thing and everything was fine.

maybe u can just put ur old HD in there and repair windows like i did.
