Laser Printer Fading Text

Hi,

The model is the Samsung ML-1640, I've printed about 300 pages that were okay, but now I think the starter cardtrige is getting empty (even if it should be good for 700 - i like dark prints)

however...

Now, regardless of what I print, it prints like this, on the entire page, and it's VERY annoying.



I tried removing and shaking the cardtrige but nothing improved.

Starter cart is going empty I have a Brother and only got about 300 pages out of it and was doing what yours was. Time to buy a reg cartridge and dont know if you have them up north but we have a place called Cartridge World down here that refills your carts for cheap. Got my brother cart for 1?2 of what the big box stores wanted and had no probs since.

I'm not familiar with that model ... but when that happens at work we replace the "drum"

Its possible the drum is worn out. Alot of cheap printers have the drum combined with the toner cartridge .. thus needing to replace both if one fails.

Perhaps consult the Samsung FAQ?

This. It appears to be an issue with how the toner is being applied to the paper, and not a lack of it.

Im at 270 pages. It started fading at ~230 pages.. maybe before that.

I have the starter cartridge. The 1.5K cartridge is $65 + tx.

I think the drum and the cartridge are build together.

So you think it's the drum/cartridge ?
Also Samsung released a new model, the ML-1665, i think it replace the 1640 but it's the same specs only a tad faster.

Anyway ,Should I just buy another cartridge ? ~230 start fading, now it's worse at 270..and it was supposed to print 700 pages (@5%) , I thought I had a little less print since I print darker, but 300....

New toner cartridge will probably solve your issues.

Thanks. The toner is at 40%..is that normal that it fade left and right now ? 40% seems alot left...
