Help overclocking sempron 3100+

Thread Starter
I have been looking around and wanting to bump my speed up so i can play F.E.A.R but with my current settings my rig will throw a hissy-fit so.. if anyone would be so inclined to help me out, I would be greatly appreciative. I have already oc'ed a wee bit, but would like to get the most out of it (the processor and the ram) while still being stable.. I've included ss of cpu-z.. I am still VERY new to this and would like for someone to elaborate more than usual on what to do because I would really like to not screw this up . Thank you.

OK your cpu speed is probably not all that bad for gaming, more always helps a little in most cases but in some games cpu speed doesn't make all that much difference. The problem you have here is your lack of available ram. FEAR would really enjoy more ram, 2 gig is perfect but even another stick of 512 would get you by with massive performance gains. Can you possibly go and get another sitck of cheap ram. That is the way to go here I think.

Do watch your full load temp and keep it below 50c.
OCCT is a good prog for quick load/stability testing.

well... you see... I wish I could, but I have gas at $3.00 a gallon for a truck that gets 16mpg to pay for... not to mention the payment for insurrance thats coming up.this is all on a $120 paycheck every 2 weeks. The reason I would like to oc is because I am going to have to make due for a long wile and want to squeeze every oz of power out of it I can.

You are running your value ram at 225MHz. You need to set this DRAM on a divider ~ 333MHz and then you will be able to raise your HTT.

Your manual:

http://64.124.27.138/ecs/manual/mb/eng/k8/NFORCE3-A.pdf

Note in "Advanced Chipset Features"

Dram Configuration

Set this to 333

AGP Overclock in MHz

Set this to 66 (This will Lock your PCI and AGP to their spec and allow you a better overclock)

Clock Spread Spectrum

Set to Disable

HT Frequency

Set to 3 X

CPU Overclock In MHz

Now you can begin to increase your HTT and overclock. Set for 5MHz and test with OCCT. If no failure, then increase again by 5MHz. Lather, rinse and repeat Once you find your maximum then test with Prime95 for at least six hours. If there is an error, drop the HTT by 5MHz and restest until you find stability.
