No it doesn't even make use of a quad core.

Are you sure?

Look at this below:

Aspiring aviators can now prepare to fly higher and faster, as Microsoft Game Studios is happy to announce that the first service pack for the AIAS award-winning Flight Simulator X is now available. Service Pack 1 will:

Provide a 20 to 50 percent performance increase
Optimize for multi-core CPUs and improve draw times for faster loading
Address multiplayer and backwards compatibility issues
Offer improved realism of key geographical locations, landmarks and airports

it does not. i've tested it on my core 2 quad, barely used two cores. my friend's i7 also only used up two cores.

FSX wants cpu speed OVER cores. a 4ghz core 2 duo will perform better than a 2.8ghz core 2 quad, but if that quad was at 4ghz, it would have better performance obviously, but until then, the dual is gonna get better FPS in FSX.

Should be some sort of multicore unlocker tool I would imagine for it. If not that sucks.

Yeah everyone kept thinking that in the FS community that you needed some beefy CPU. That flight sim is all CPU. What people found out though is its actually ram, vram and HDD. Some guy figured out how it does stuff and its really goofy and really unstable.

The game is just horribly coded.
