As it stands everything is at a standstill--tried to PayPal for the mobo/cpu but it did not go through--Paypal refunded the money and now my bank is holding it for 5 days--why? Because they can. Plus--until I finish geting the bank account verified with PayPal (3-4 days) I can't buy that mobo/cpu from Fishie--I made the committment so now I have to wait for my back to enter the 21st century--I have emailed and phoned everyone I can to get this process moving--but it is going at it's own extremely slow pace....

I thought my Vcard was sold--but now I here fromt he fellow I sold it to that it is DOA--so now I have to refund that money and wait for the Vcard to return so I can RMA it through Best Buy (it is under waranty) and get a new one. Unless the fellow I sold it to can pull that off where he's at. Seems like this is going backwards not forwards....

One more reason I love NewEgg! Buying from individuals is always a crap shoot. (Including buying Vcards from me lol)

I was sick with a touch of the pandemic yesterday and not too sporty today either. Nanna (mom in law) is here so that is great--takes some pressure off--not much--but some. Tomorrow is a pre op check up and then the C-section on Friday--going to take off those days for sure--and I am ebating about whether to go in to work at all today as I feel like death warmed over.

That mobo combo you linked CHozart is the same mobo I found on NewEgg--but Asus does not list any OCing ability for that mobo--which makes me doubt it can. Asus is pretty good about touting the abilities and features of their hardware--if it had good OC BIOS options they would say so.

After buying a board that does not OC at all--I am really doing the research before purchase now.

As it stands the first mobo/cpu in Cunch will be the Clawhammer 3200+ socket 754 on a Gigabyte K8NS pro--unfortunately this must be an older mobo as I canot find a listing for it. I found the K8NS==but not the pro model.

Fishie assures me it will OC.

As Jrabb posted in the quote I have the PSU, RAM. HDDs and have the mobo/CPU held. As much as I would like to shop around--the money is gone and I have committed to Fishie to buy his rig--so that's it for now RE bargain hunting.

I will get back onto it--I just got my Federal return so that's another few clams to spend on the box--but I have to wait and see if I need to refund the money for the Vcard first...

One thing I do need is a super basic Vcard for the K8NS--talking to Wax Shop about that--he has a couple for $15.

Seems like the faster I move the faster it all snarls up so I am going to back down a notch and wait for my bank and PayPal to get straight.

CyberD

Thanks for all the interest in this project--take a look at the 56K Killer Edition of the build log--got image hosting at last!

Well it looks like the Vcard scenario played out for the best--the new owner gets to RMA it for a brand new one--that means another HDD will be coming my way for the Crunch project! Now if I am lucky the Paypal crap will sort itself out and I can get that mobo from Fishie as well! This is working out!

Druid, all the best in the upcoming days. Our thoughts are with you

We'll keep an eye out for Crunch and potential parts and/or other victims.

Can't wait to see that thing up and running. Would be really cool to compare the results of the different mobo/CPU combos
