Xbox Linux opinions

Basically should I do it? lol. I found the Xbox-Linux website and believe it or not they will do all the work necessary FOR FREE! OMG! Not only is Linux free, but I can send my Xbox to somebody and they'll do all mods for free as well so I won't have to lift a finger. Now, my basic uses for it would be to still play Xbox games (so I'd have to do the software method as described on their website) however, I would no only like to replace the 8GB hard drive with a much larger one (say 200+GB) but I'm pretty sure my DVD drive is dead on my Xbox so I'd have to replace that as well, meaning I'd have to do the Hardware method....is there some other way? lol if not is there some other way to replace my DVD drive so that atleast I'll have a functioning Xbox?

EDIT/// I know the Xbox has a Celery 733MHz and a GeForce 3 etc. etc., are these all just regular parts? IE: Is the Xbox just a regular PC, can I install Windows XP on it? Like, just strip it down, swap out the HDD and DVD drive for regular IDE ones and then do a fresh install of XP? Where would I get drivers? Would they be just regular nVidia Forceware drivers for the video? Somebody help lol, I'm confused.

Why dont you open your xbox and see. If you figureout how to make it into a full blown PC, that would be soooooo awsome.

Check out the top one in that link, basically I'd have to install Linux and then run Windows from within it LMAO! So revised question, can I just swap out the HDD and DVD drive, maybe add in more RAM etc. and then do a fresh install of Linux (Ubuntu version 5.10 since I have a disc for that lying around here)

|337sft, I think I may just do that. The only thing is I ended up taking apart my PS2 and then just threw it away instead of putting it back together or even attempting to get it working again (it was broken so I took it apart to see what made it tick) its this kind of blind, wastefull idiocy that is scaring me lol, I dont want to end up with NO gaming console you see...

Lol, I would but I moved my room downstairs and my parents are asleep upstairs, rather not go up there and start unhooking my Xbox from stuff lmao, its past midnight here in San Diego.

By the way, I'm downloading the 64bit version of Ubuntu Linux for my desktop as well, I had all sorts of trouble with my X800XL but I hear Nvidia support is much better for Linux, so I'm giving it another shot with my 7900GTX.
