PC wont detect HDTV display properly, please help

I have a 32" Dynex HDTV, im running windows 7 and for the past month my PC has detected that the Display is a Dynex 32" 720p display, it would pick the best resolution and center the display and everything looked sharp and buetiful. but now it will not detect my display! it shows up as "Generic Display non-plug n play" it doesnt pick optimal display settings becuase it doenst know what display its using. i click "Detect Display" with no luck. Its native resolution is 1366x720, but now i have to use 1024x640 and it looks horrid, 1366x720 is not even listed as an option to choose! the screen is not centerd, it is very off center! i cant see the scroll bar on the right of this website! i have turned everything off restarted and all with no luck. Could it be that the module in the HDTV that sends out its model number and info to devices is burned out or something? is there even a module that does that??

im so unhappy

Have you installed any drivers or updates recently?

You should use your computer's resolution changer thingy to do those sorts of things. Right click, personalize, display on the desktop. See if you can find the right settings. If not, right click, looks like you've got an nVidia graphics card, nVidia control panel, change resolution.

Go to Add custom resolution in the Nvidia control panel and you can add 1366x720.
