Parallel water cooling (video cards)

I just understood how it works if you hook up 2-3 cards with the EK bridge or all fittings. Also I am back to SLI with 2 full cover blocks.

My question is, would the water flow be seriously decreased if I did this? And I suppose both cards would run at the same temps? Usually the second card always ran 4-6C hotter than the first when I had SLI 2 months ago. I would only be cooling 2 cards and a CPU. Here is a mock up of how I can do it. I have 2 extra compression fittings as well.

Parallel configuration offers higher loop flow rates and more even GPU temperature however, you can run into problems with laminar flow if you use a triple or quadruple parallel configuration with low flow rates.

Basically you need to have 0.7 GPM+ going to each card or else you might start to get laminar flow, which will severely increase your temperatures.

Series, assuming your using a pump with decent head pressure such as a Swiftech MCP655.

Based on your loop, it does not matter. Either way the water is going to have to go through both gpu's then res. It is personal preference.

Thanks, and Interpol, the pump I use with this top has more head pressure than a MCP 655.

Sorry to drag this thread up, but have you decided on a config and do you have any results? I'm set up the way you drew the parallel, with both loop inlet and outlet on the top block, and the bottom in parallel. I'm seeing significantly higher (~20C) temps from the second card and I'm wondering if it's not getting enough flowrate. I'm runnning dual 655s, so head pressure shouldn't be a problem. Hoping to hear what you got before I drain the loop to try series... I've reseated the block and haven't dropped temps at all.

Sounds like you haven't properly bled the loop, temperatures like that indicate a major screw-up.

Loop is without a doubt bled properly- it's been running fine for 2 weeks+ now. That's why I'm confused, they're acrylic tops too, so I can visually confirm there's no bubble in the block.

I don't know much about a parallel configuration - maybe it's necessary to have the inlet/outlet on opposite cards?
