Good Mid Range Card?

Thread Starter
I've had a GeForce Ti 4600 for a couple years and am looking to upgrade. I'm looking at either the 6600 GT or the 6800. Which of these would be the better card? I'm looking for something idealy less than $200 that could play games such as Oblivion and Doom 3 well. Any ideas or sugestions appreciated.

If your budget is $200, then I would say the 6800.

Or if you can spend a little more than $200 take a look at this 6800 GS AGP.

6800 is a hell of a card, and they have good success in being unlocked to a 6800ultra.... so definately get an XFX,eVGA,or BFG 6800 series.

Get the 7600GT, it outperforms even the 6800Ultra.

It is well within your range, $180, and after the rebate it is only $165.

That's assuming he has a PCI-E slot available on his mobo.

Ok, I think that I'll go for the 6800, but is the 6800 GS AGP faster than the regular 6800 enough to make up for the price difference? (Also, it has less RAM (256) than the norm 6800 (512)...does this matter?) I have a Lanparty Nf-4 so it dosen't have AGP but it does have PCI Express. Also, what is SLI? It definitly wasn't around when I last was looking at cards, when I got the Ti.

Its for newer MOBO's that have 2 PCI-e slots and lets you use two of the same cards together for double the graphics power.... IMO its just a bragging right because it serves no true purpose other than benchmarking as of today....
