Ya im still gonna say go with the onboard first... Then if he doesnt like it for some reason, get the new soundcard. Onboard sound isnt bad nowadays.... a huge leap from the crap from back in the day.....

Alright, thanks for everyone's help but I must ask if you think he should slim off on the RAM or CPU possibly ... the price seem a little higher than he can spend right now ... Would you recommend a lower range CPU or lower RAM or anything like that to save money?

Also, is that G.Skill good RAM?

g.skill makes good ram and since no ocing the value is just fine. theres realatively no diff between "xtream performacne ram" and value if you arent ocing

I would say if your lookin to shave a few $$ off, go a little cheaper on the ram, keep that cpu, its a good value for performance, and hell need it! So if you want to save a little money do it with the ram, get some cheap 2gb kits... then down the raod if he wants to OC, then he can just get some good ram and OC that sucker. Though IMHO i would try and get the gskill you posted above, it OC's well and is a great price too.....
