AMD mobile cpu's in desktops are much like Opterons with DFI, in the respect that they will have little or no support in bios setting and from CSR's. Make sure that motherboard officially supports AMD mobile processors and that they have necessary bios updates available. So you should not be asking will it fit, you should find out if it will be supported.

I have also wanted to know if that 4000+ would work in a desktop. I haven't been able to find anything as far as my mobo as to support or not. SOme people have said yes and some no. I would love to get that chip if it would work.
