I have no idea what I am doing

Thread Starter
I would like to overclock everything in a computer. But I have no idea how to, nor which method. From what I have been reading, their are many different methods and procedurs. But what I do know is that I need to find out what I have, with that said, how do I do that?

The CPU is a
Pentium MMX 200 MHz

I dont know the motherboard or anything else.

I know it is very old, if their is somewhere better to post please point me in the right direction

Get this program http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php it will tell u what proccessor and motherboard you have and what ram you have. When u find that go into your User CP and fill in your system specs so we can help you out even more.

BTW have u read the tutorial on overclocking in this forum? Link Here. Its very helpful and will give u a decent understanding of how overclocking works.

Also if you have a Dell, HP, Compaq or somthing of the like you will not be able to overclock your comp.

yes you can, overclocking was possible since the time of 486s but it was a hell of a lot harder.
you might need to go physical about it... boost the vCore manualy, etc.
If you don't know much about overclocking better leave it alone.

first of all you need to know the best way to overclock is by bios for better result

i recommand you to download a program that show your temp as SPEEDFAN
for the stressing stability test go with OCCT
for the final stability test PRIME95
and for the pc information CPU-Z

you can overclock this machine but you need to tell us what is your cooling system so we can see if its dangerous for that little pc or if its totally fine

You might be able to overclock via motherboard jumpers as there were NO BIOS overclocks built into boards back when that board was created.

The first boards with BIOS overclockable abilities were created by ABIT (SOFT BIOS) and came out at the Pentium II/III Board Level BX chipset. Intel had the motherboard spec to 266MHz so there is the possibilility of an overclock. You need to open the case and look at the mainboard. See if you can find any white silkscreened model numbers. They are usually between the PCI slots and will be much larger than any other silkscreened numbers on the board.
