Do use some case fans, there are plenty that are almost dead silent and will improve cooling the system.
OK, I'll look into that.

I have to find a good silent PSU...
Phantom looks pretty interesting but unfortunately it costs A LOT.

There's the rest of the computer too :
I already have a new DFI INFINITY RS482.

Is this looking good?
-Opteron 165
-Thermaltake Big Typhoon (Not sure)
-Corsair TwinX1024-3200C2PRO (OK if I ever decide to get an extra 700MHz from the CPU?)
-2x Seagate Barracuda 300GB 16MB
-PSU still no idea
-Case same thing

For the CPU, I'm not sure if I'll take BOX or OEM because the OEM has a 1 year warranty. And NCIX states that it has the AMD 3 years mfg. warranty ...

What would you say? Should I get everything except the case and see after?

Seriously mate, screw silent, get a case that has lot of big fans. My case has an 80mm intake, and 80mm exhaust, is fairly noisy, and is hot as hell. With no fans you might be silent, but you will get NO oc, and with probably be unstable, (if not being near max safe temp at idle)

I really need to get a decent case (Tt Armour ) for some airflow, get a Tt BT to let my CPU breath. The 7900GTX needs to get more cool air, and could probably do with a VF900 to get me a halfway decwent OC. (seems i got a poor-er OC'ing chip. oh well, luck of the draw)

I'll look for the case after (I'll first see how it reacts in free-air),

What I'm looking for is a PSU...

Any suggestions? (Preferably ~20dB)

Ummm... Just wondering... Would Big Typhoon or XP-120 fit on this mobo?

You know, if you are building an HTPC, you'll have enough cooling power off of the stock AMD heatsink. Those new heatsinks are actually supposed to be relatively decent. If you're having a tough time finding cheap silent PSUs, take a look at the 450W FSP SAGA series unit. It's pretty quiet, and you can always buy a PSU noise dampening kit. I don't think it's a good idea to overclock in a home theater PC.

Well, it's some kind of HTPC, since it's going to be on a shelf
(This one, once it'll be built: http://www.tnt-audio.com/clinica/flexye.html)
but it's not going to be used for HT. (In fact, the thing is that the mobo is horizontally mounted to save vertical space)

At the same time, I'm not playing games a lot... (I just start to wonder why I'm about to buy an Opteron 165 and two 300GB HDDs)

The original reason for not using the stock cooler was OEM -- or not...

If there's a year warranty on OEM, are the 3 years worth it? (Cause 3rd fans are more silent also)
