and kow, isnt there insulation on top of the dragon skin? or is more neoprene needed to keep the temps of the board high enough? or was it because cold from the CPU socket spread around and super chilled the skin next to it?
I would buy a couple of old boards and practice spraying conformal really thin. If you do it properly you cant tell its been conformaled unless you TRY and look for it, even then companies will still send you another board or card if it dies.

There was plenty of insulation on top of the dragon skin, but with ln2 temps its WAY different than the temps of dice. Its not a simple bit of condensation like dice, things get frozen solid on the board even if you use tons of layers of frost king. It seems as though the cold just spread across the board and froze the dragon skin solid then cracked.

I used it 4 times with LN2 and not a problem, there was snow built up around my pot and capacitors when I was done,
I will never put Vaseline on my mobo.
maybe someone did nt mix part a and part b well enough?

Dam this is the first negative thing I have heard about it. Was going to L2N my board when it got back from RMA. I'll look into the conformal spray.

hummm...let me get this straight...
did the dragon skin crack then allow water under the board or did the dragonskin freeze solid and underneath it..water formed, thus frying the components underneath.

proof it works with LN2 and the board survived.

I've used it on a board while running Dice and ran that board maybe 15 times and never had an issue.

only thing with that is....dice is max -78C
while benching ln2 with a very good cpu...your about -140 to -180C on average...your adding another -105C+ to the plate and over time...things do tend to freeze up or get real frosty......

this is why i want to know if the dragon skin created the condensation between itself and the board or did it crack and then when the ice melted, fell on the board...and they didnt know about it...fired the board up later and presto..no more board.

no ice or condensation can form unless it was caught under there while the dragon skin was setting during application.

well, i tested it on a video card and just set the pot on top of it for about 30 minutes(worst way to use ln2 - lol). with no power or anything. the card was completely frozen like the frozen tundra or something. but yet....after i thawed it out a bit then pealed it away...dry as a bone.
second test i just flat out set the pot on and round piece of dragon skin from the bottom of the cup i used to mix it in. sure enough, it was frozen solid and i even bent it enough to finally break it in half(sort of anyway) but it seemed to only get that crack after i forced it on there.

and when it thawed out....it looked like it could take on condensation....

im not here to knocking anyone...i just want to know both sides. the good and the bad.

side note:
stuff looks damn good to me and it came up like 99.2 percent. i had a cluster of caps in one area...lol
